Description

Since 2020 is around the corner, I figured it's about time I build myself a PC. The main use of the PC is for AAA gaming, photo editing, and some 3D modeling in Solidworks (my side, side hobby, if time permits it).

It took me some time to gather all the parts because I was adamant in building it in the Lian Li PC-O11 Dynamic case. I fell in love with the case when I was browsing for cases online but there wasn't any in stock both online and locally until fairly recently. I'm glad I was patient enough to wait for this case to be available because THIS CASE ROCKS. From general looks to cable management space, this case is truly epic.

The temps are quite good, if I say so myself. The CPU and GPU idle temps are around 27-30°C and load temps are about 72-75°C while playing Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, and Need for Speed Heat on a 1440p @ 165hz (LG 32GK850G) display. I should probably learn to tweak some settings to achieve even better temps.

There was a minimal sag on my GPU but I found a really good bracket on Amazon.ca for around 30 CAD. Does its job very well thus far.

Something that really annoyed me was the fact that my motherboard's USB 3.0 header is all the way at the bottom of the board. The case USB 3.0 cable is too short to be connected to the header. Even if the length suffice, I wouldn't be able to connect it anyway because my intake fans sit really close to the header. Luckily, I found myself a USB 3.0 header low profile connector from modDIY.com. Only then I could finally connect the header to the cable without stressing any components.

All in all, I'm quite happy with the PC I built. Had to watch tons of videos online to get this thing assembled and running.

Thanks for checking out my build!

Part Reviews

CPU

Not really the best "bang for your buck" kinda CPU but it is supposedly the best one for gaming. Works wonderfully so far. Temps are quite good under load, but then again, my ambient room temperature is fairly low and I have a 360mm rad cooling it.

CPU Cooler

A very nice-looking AIO and three great-performing static pressure AER P fans. Does a good job keeping my loaded i9-9900K below 75°C.

Motherboard

Great motherboard. Has every feature a gamer might need. RGB is in all the right places. A pity the ROG logo is covered when a GPU is installed.

Memory

Fast and beautiful. Clocked it to its advertised speed of 3200Mhz using Intel XMP profile with no problem whatsoever.

Storage

Fast. Just.. fast. Serves the boot and program drive on my build.

Storage

Great for my gaming SSD. It's insane how cheap a 1TB drive has gotten.

Storage

Works very well. I was going to use this as my game drive but it ended up being my data drive instead.

Video Card

This beast runs my game well and stays fairly cool while doing it as well. Very hefty and sags a teeny tiny bit. Had to buy a support bracket in order to level it.

Case

I would give this case six stars out of five if I could. It's just that good in terms of looks and space management.

Power Supply

Provides power with stability. Definitely not a time bomb. It's so unbelievable silent. Fantastic job, EVGA.

Case Fan

Performs fairly well. RGB looks pretty as well. Gets a bit loud at high RPM but that's what I bought my headphones for.

Beautiful build! And those temps are really good. You could adjust your fan speed curve but with the 9900k, 75C is very good. Have you overclocked your CPU at all? The push/pull arrangement on your 360 rad is a really nice touch. So many fans! Would love to see it powered up.

Thank you! I haven't overclocked my CPU at all. Hopefully soon though. I had just finished the build last weekend and haven't been able to spend much time with it at all due to work and family.

Beautiful build, I would have probably gone Ryzen for its better versatility but if you're mainly gaming it's perfect.

The main use for it will be gaming, though I do quite a bit of photo editing on Lightroom on the side as well for my other hobby. In retrospect, I would have gone for a Ryzen build as well...

Nice, but I don't agree with your processer choice. The Ryzen 9 3900x/3950x both have more cores and the same if not better gaming performance, less power draw, and less heat.

Love this build!! Thank you for sharing. It's very similar to the build I'm looking to do, so I've taken some inspiration from your set-up!
