Description

It is done. It's finally done!

I started gathering parts for this over the last month and reused my monitor from the previous build which i had purchased not so long ago. It is my second build.

Case - I watched hours of build videos from JP Modified, Linus, Jaystwocents, you name it. One case stood out, it was the Cougar Conquer. This case looks phenomenal and is very challenging to work with. I like challenges and i like the case, so i got it. I did not like the colors, so i sanded it, painted it. Let me tell you sanding and spray painting in an apartment is not fun. I moved all furniture from my gaming den area and setup a plastic sheet spray booth which did not go well. Ultimately decided to take things part by part. With every part being carried outside on the street, spray painted and then put back in a closet to dry for 2 days. This took a lot of time and energy but with a few scuffs, i like to think i did an okay job. The triangle cutouts on the case seemed like they could look better with some mesh. I used bug screens from Lowes and cut it out and stuck it from inside the case post a coat of spray paint.

Motherboard and CPU - I got a good deal on the CPU+MOBO combined at microcenter. I know the MOBO is an overkill but screw it, i would like to be prepared to move to an i9-9900 some day.

Memory - G.Skill Trident Z sticks are stunning creations. These things are a beast and the RGB effects you can get are nuts.

Liquid Cooling and Fans - I'd argue nothing beats the NZXT kraken amongst AIOs in terms of aesthetics, so that is it. It does a decent job of cooling as well. I will admit i rigged the 3rd Corsair on a 240 mm radiator with some zip ties >_<. Sssh. This build has a total of 5 Corsair LL 120 RGBs. I dumped the stock ****** orange fans that came with the case and the NZXT 120mm fans as well.

Monitor - Alienware 34 - I think this is the best 34 inch gaming monitor out there period.

Cable Management - It took hours to do this and still looks crappy. I have just made peace with what it looks like right now. This is as good as i can get it to be. I did add some custom cables from Ensourced which do give a nice color pop.

That motherboard isn't overkill, it's a four phase power design and terrible heatsink on top. Gigabyte's Z390 Master is a six phase and is better built for the 9900k or non k variant as you had said.

Agree on terrible heatsink part. I was almost surprised to find a tiny fan for the mobo included lol

Good looking, build! The cable management is really clean. How long exactly did that take you?

All in all a good 20 hours over a week. Just the cable management, maybe 2 hours.
