Before I talk about my build I want to thank everyone on PcPP for helping with this build, definitively couldn't have done it without this website and the forum.
This is my first gaming pc. I wanted to go "all out" stopped only by a budget of around $1500 CAD. I also wanted it to look really, really good which is why I chose the H60 (not the best $/performance but looks really good) and the Enthoo luxe over the enthoo pro. I am coming over from a 3 year old laptop that just wasn't cutting it for the new games that are coming out, it has an i5-3210m and a radeon 8670m.
The build process was smooth with no real problems except the when I went to put the 200mm including fan at the top the screws that are used to mount it are a couple mm too small and have nothing to grab on to. I fixed this by mounting the fan with a dozen or so zip ties, hopefully i don't have to take it off any time soon because of I do I will definitely just give up and break it off. Overall the build went extremely well and I am now addicted to building pc's and am building ones for 2 of my friends in the upcoming months.
Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core
Went last gen because skylake is very expensive in Canada. Still performs insanely good and runs nice and cool.
Corsair H60 54.0 CFM Liquid
Wanted a liquid cooler for the looks, was slightly worried about the performance because of the hate people give 120mm liquid coolers. With the fan basically off and the pump at %60 it runs at about 32 degrees. Will update with load temps.
MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition
The board fits the theme of black and white, supports everything I need and was a great price. I do wisi it was a black and white version of MSI's gaming 5 and I would have had no problem spending more but this board should do great.
Kingston HyperX Fury White 8gb
Kignston's HyperX lineup of ram looked good, was said to be very reliable, and runs at 1866mhz.
Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250gb
Got it for a really good price because of a best buy gift card I had and runs super fast. Boots in a matter of seconds.
Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB
Used to hold all of my games and other random things. Lots of storage for a reasonable price.
Gigabyte Geforce GTX 970 4gb G1 Gaming
Looks really well, super cool, overclocks like a bat out of hell, good price for the Canadian peso. What more can you ask. And yes I know 390 is better price/performance but wanted 970 because the people I know that have it have had no problems and I had some bad experiences with AMD on my laptop.
Phanteks Enthoo Luxe ATX Full Tower
Expensive I know but was so easy to build in (cable management is amazing) looks fantastic and those LED's tho. The optinal 2m strip of led's for the inside are a pain in the *** to install because of the crappy 3m adhesive including but i knew this already and had some double sided tape to fix this. They give the computer some personality and look great. Had some issues where 3 led's are green while the rest are white but fixed this with putting some tape around them tightly interestingly enough this makes them white again.
EVGA 650W GS
Good **** EVGA, the little things that you add in the packaging made me extremely impressed. Performance is great and the 650W and reliability will give me some headroom for any future upgrades.
