This is my first PC build. With the Game of Thrones series finale relatively fresh on my mind I took inspiration from the show and built this mainly white and black PC. I chose this icy white theme almost as an homage to the shows Jon Snow.
Processor I had a internal dilemma when trying to decide whether or not I should have waited for Ryzen 3rd gen. With the release date over a month away and Walmart randomly had a Ryzen 2600x(the CPU I had planned on getting) for $159.99. That was a deal too good to pass up on and if I really wanted a Ryzen 3rd gen CPU I could always upgraded later.
CPU Cooler Its a Cooler Master Hyper 212, from my little knowledge of the PC world this cooler seems to be iconic. Its budget friendly and this black edition really adds to filling out the PC's empty space.
Motherboard My house setup doesn't allow me to run an Ethernet cable so I needed either a motherboard with Wi-Fi or a Wi-Fi card. After looking at the various B450 motherboards around the $80 mark and PCI Wi-Fi cards around $25, I chose the Gigabyte B450 Aorus Pro Wi-Fi. It had built in Wi-Fi and subtle RGB lighting that breathed a bit of life into the build.
RAM Just was looking for 2 sticks of 8GB DDR4-3000 RAM. At the time of picking my parts I decided to go for the cheapest DDR4-3000 RAM sticks I could find. Then I saw for a few bucks more I could get some white Corsair Vengeance sticks. My wallet said no but my mind said yes, and since you can't think with your wallet I got the white sticks.
Storage I just wanted an SSD so I got an ADATA Ultimate SU800 512 GB. That's really it,
Oh, and I do plan on adding more storage soon, but to start that's enough for now.
Graphics Card I had intended on getting a RTX 2060. There were a lot of people saying the dual fan set ups ran hot. After a multitude of poor temp. reviews I decided to go with a Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2060 OC PRO White a 3 fan GPU.
Yes, I could have gone for a cheaper GPU and been fine but this card looks incredible. 100% do not regret this decision.
Case This being my first PC I had to get the golden retrievers of cases in the NZXT H500 ATX Mid Tower. Its a clean and simple case that comes with great cable management slots and a tempered glass side panel. After building this PC I understand why this product is so popular. Its a great case and looks great on a desk.
Power Supply Went for the the cheapest gold certified. fully modular, over 500W PSU I could find. EVGA SuperNova G2 was a decent price and easy to work with.
Final Thoughts This being my first PC build, it felt daunting at first but after watching YouTube videos(mainly Paul's Hardware) it felt like a breeze. It was a blast to build and I can't wait to tinker with it.
and now my watch begins
