Description

Intro: I (as much as I hate to say this) was once a console gamer. I had an Xbox one, and I gamed on her. Her name was Betsy. Betsy was a loyal partner that brought me through many titles over the year and a half I've had her. But she was slow. She started glitching out and lagging. So, with tears running down my face, I decided it was time. I was going to get a PS4! But then, a new horizon dawned! While browsing craigslist and eBay for the best deal, I saw something. There was a computer part. I was very confused. I thought that only big companies built computers and that it was very difficult and for professionals. But the part (graphics card power color r9 270x) looked all cool and aesthetically pleasing. So I went to YouTube and typed, "How to Build a Computer". I watched a video by Carey Holzman on the basics. Then I found people like awesomesaucetech and Jayztwocens. Then an idea was born. I was going to build a computer.

Performance: This computer is my first rig. Her name is Big Bertha. I like to game on her. Although I will forever remember Betsy, I am very pleased with what BigB can do. She plays titles like The Division, GTA V, and BF4 extremely well. She had an average of 34 FPS on Unigine heaven benchmark at max settings and 8x AA. She may have been loud, but she did it.

Problems: I browsed eBay for these parts. They all worked except for one. That was the motherboard. It wouldn't turn on. So I RMAd it and everything was fine.

Conclusion: Big Bertha shall last me through the years as my pc for gaming. She will start to falter in the new titles, and eventually become useless. But that day is not near. She will serve me as her predecesor did and as my next computer will. Hail Bertha! Long Live Big Bertha!

Part Reviews

CPU

Great CPU. It games well, and I got it to 4.1 ghz

CPU Cooler

Decent heatsink. It gives me better temps than the 212 evo supposedly does

Motherboard

Great overclocker. Got it and had to RMA it because it wouldn't turn on though. (I got it on eBay (It did have a warranty!!!))

Storage

Really fast hard drive. It is enough storage for me, although Im probably gonna get more later

Video Card

Very loud. Didn't game as well as I thought it would, but it does well enough. I cant overclock it one bit.

Case

Pros: Feels like a much nicer case Power supply shroud Quiet LED fan Looks bad a** Cons:Decent cable management except for the fact that you can't route your EPS cable to your CPU on the top of the case! The opening gets covered up by the motherboard! (See the pictures from my build for details) (You can get an extension and use the opening near the SSDs and route it at the top of your case that way)

Great case overall though. Very happy with it!

Power Supply

decent, but ketchup and mustard cables

Wireless Network Adapter

Very fast router, can play any game on multiplayer really well, very hard to see if it is right under your GPU

Best thing is when you want more performance your best bet is to just swap out your GPU! :)

I just bought a used r9 270 2 months ago for $100. That's my only regret. I also have a 8320e. Got that bad boy up to 4.7ghz. Great CPU for over clocking. Nice build!

I have the fx 8320e as well. How is it overclocking for you? Mine seems super unstable and I can only get it up to 3.8 ghz :( what are your bio settings?

Well, I used the AMD overdrive app. I used the turbo core feature. It got it to 4.08 with 1.325 v. I would recommend it.

I took a look at your build. The hyper T4 might not give you temperatures good enough to get it over 4 ghz. I did read somewhere that some poeple have gotten this thing to 4.8 ghz with air cooling which kinda stinks for us :(
