Description

I have been wanting to build my own desktop PC for 16 years now and only after getting divorced did I have the ability and money to do so. It's funny how life works sometimes.

I use the PC primarily for gaming but next year it will be used for getting my Masters degree in IT management. It does well with whatever games I throw at it such as divinity original sin 2, Diablo 3, WoW and the Witcher 3. I can play all with high/ultra settings all over 100 FPS. It stays cool and quiet with the BeQuiet fans. I also put another fan on the CPU cooler for better temps.

The only problem I had was that I put the SATA M.2 in the wrong spot and had to switch them to get them to work properly. It was not a problem and just had to switch them and then update the BIOS to get it to work properly. It was a really fun experience and I am happy that I finally got the chance to build my own desktop gaming pc.

I named it Sephiroth because I wanted something powerful and mean with a white, gray and black color scheme with not a lot of RGB. It turned out perfect in that extent as well!

Part Reviews

CPU

An amazing CPU that has more cores and threads that I will need for a long time. I came from a 4 core 8 thread mobile i7 to this which is an amazing step up in performance. I used the AMD utility to put it in gaming mode.

CPU Cooler

I know that the 2700x comes with its own decent cooler in the box, but I watched one of Jokers YouTube video on the performance of the stock cooler compared to this one and it was 10 degrees cool so it seemed like a no brainer at that point. I also added one of the case fans to the back of it for better airflow. Seems to be working great!

Motherboard

Awesome motherboard. I normally do not like paying the Asus Tax since other competitors have very similar performance and features. I did pick the Asus board for the pre-installed motherboard as well as the really nice and easy to follow BIOS. I love the easy mode as well as monitor mode. It made a noob like me able to get all the settings where I wanted and needed.

Memory

Really good, fast and stylish memory. Works great. Feels very premium in the hand too which I did not expect.

Storage

Insanely fast M.2. I was amazed coming from a SATA 256 gb M.2 to this. My computer boots insanely fast and the few programs I have on it load instantly. It is unbelievable.

Storage

My mass storage drive. It is just SATA speeds but putting all my games on it drastically reduced their load times and I am very thankful for that. Games such as WoW and Divinity Original Sin 2 load so much faster it is crazy. Happy I did not have to get a hard disk.

Case

I watched and read every review on this case and it was all stellar. It is a little annoying how some of the cables are attached to the pop off front of the case but that is my only complaint. Besides that the case is compact which is amazing since my room is small. The aesthetics are amazing as well as there are not a lot of white cases on the market so it was nice to get one. The cable management is great although my cable management ability kind of sucks but it does it well. The best part about this case is the airflow. So many cases now want to have a flashier case than actually being a good case. Function over form is always better in my opinion but thankfully this case has both.

Power Supply

Great power supply. It got really great reviews and is more power than I will need for a good long time.

Case Fan

Fantastic fans! Super quiet and are able to push a lot of air. I am happy I got the pwm fans as well. Worth every penny.

Monitor

I am very satisfied with this monitor. I wanted the Alienware 1440p ultrawide but it was double the price of this one so I decided against it. It was just too much money at the time. This gives me a lot of the pros of the Alienware ultrawide without having to pay the Alienware/g-sync tax, especially now that you can use g-sync of Freesync monitors. The pixel density is a little off for such a giant monitor but for gaming and browsing, it is awesome.

Keyboard

One of the best keyboards when I purchased it years ago on Cyber Monday but Corsair is its biggest pro and con. Pro for having absolutely amazing build quality. Con for having to always have the corsair utility on to keep your color profile. Not a fan. But the keyboard itself is top notch.

Mouse

Since I enjoy playing WoW, this mouse was a no brainer. It is great for everything I have to do with it in WoW when it comes to the multitude of buttons needed. I have yet to try it with other games but it is something I will look into. The buttons on the side quickly become muscle memory.

I see from the other comments on this post that you're doing well, and I'm happy to hear that!

I love the build, monitor and other peripherals you chose for what sounds like your first custom PC build in a long time.

I wish you the best of luck moving into the future; and I'm sure that you'll be fine considering all the gaming you'll be doing from now on :D

Hey, thank you! I really appreciate that!

I loved the entire process of building this pc and of course, playing on it and I can definitely already tell that I am always going to be a PC gamer haha.

The gaming is easily becoming my new addiction and I am ok with that haha.

Thank you! I really appreciate that!

Working in the Meshify was a dream! Such an easy process even for a noob like me. It was surprisingly small though haha. I did not expect it to be as small as it is. My graphics card almost did not fit with my fans! It was a stressful moment for sure haha.

Nice build! Hope all is well, life can only get better from here on! +1 for 970 pro and fans, I have both and they're superb.

Thanks! The fans are honestly one of the best purchases of the build along with the 970 Pro! People on Reddit gave me **** for it but I am so happy I went with both. Such a fantastic idea on my part honestly. Worth every penny!

Any issues getting the ROG STRIX 2060 to fit in the Meshify C? I'm looking at the same two components, but I'm worried it will be tight with front fans.

So the 2060 is a HUGE card. It is actually the same cooler they use for the 2070 and 2080. With that being said, I have about a finger width of space in between that and the front middle fan. It fits though! I was scared for a hot minute when I took it out of the packaging and tried to put it in my case. You'll be fine though!

Thanks! Yea, I figured it would be close because I saw the ROG STRIX version is 300mm long, and the Meshify C specs say "up to 315mm." I thought there might be an issue with getting the cables and screws in place with only 15mm of room to work with. Glad to hear its okay.
