This build was already in the process of making, but as I saw Jipster leaving, and how well he did here and changed us all, I decided to make this computer as tribute to him and the legacy he should've left on PCPP. I know it's not the full thing that it should be (980 ti 4 way SLI) but will make due for me right now.
I won't give my "Two Cents" on everything, but would like to thank PCPP for making this able to be easier for me to build. Even though about 6 months ago I had to make this one as Space_Buk was banned for a link, whoops. I have been thinking about building a pc for about a year now, and now that its done, it feels great. It also is great, as I went for a performance per dollar, and even then, over-performance per $ for this build. I would like to dabble into overclocking, but haven't messed with the CPU much. I can play any game (except DayZ) at max setting with ~60 FPS+/-. I wish I would be a little better knowing and would've done a better job at cable management. The size of the case also make that a harder thing as the cooler isn't even meant for the case. I had trouble modding it to be able to anyway, even following online instructions.
Thank you all for checking this out and reading this, I do hope that Jipster will one day be able to see this, so geekazoid, please send him the link as I know you are in contact with him.
Please ask any questions, I will check in the morning and try to answer, if not then after school (assume ~4:00 PST for the check).
Chose over the i5 just for the option and use of the threads when I start to animate and code farther along, and just to make sure I had the power.
Beautiful cooler, wish it would be in form factor with the case, but besides that, great and worth it more than the h110i gt
Was recommended instead of the Arctic Silver 5, just put it on today (9/17/15) when I finally put on my Kraken and saw a 30+ degree difference. My favorite part is that it is non-corrosive and non-conductive since I have never applied thermal paste before, just in case I messed up (which I did, I got a smaller drop and didn't check it the second time though).
Blazing SSD, filled it up by accident full of steam games and had to go fix that, making sure I had 20% room left to keep it up to performance, is now at ~50% somehow.
Great case comparable to the phantoms, wish I would've gotten a full tower, but it does the job just fine.
Chose over any other power supply because I would like to upgrade to 2 cards SLI eventually and the platinum with fully modular is just a deal I couldn't pass up.
Great optical drive for the price
Great keyboard, but if only they would update the software and make it cheaper as it isn't near as durable as its competitors, its held up well for these 6-8 months, completely cleaning it, scratched the media keys then wiped off where the marks were and they disappeared, the only issue is in the firmware, where the media keys aren't lighting up.
Love the mouse, only issue is that because I have clammy hands, i have dried sweat on the sides (thumb and pinky-ish sides/areas) which doesn't want to clean and won't clean well
since I got it for half off the original price, it was worth its money. The only issue is when you unplug for a period of time, it can reset and change the sidetone back to 10.
I believe this is the UPS that I have, it was bought a year ago for my laptop, no problems and is doing great.
