Description

First build! It took me about 8 hours total, 3 for building and then another 5 for installing drivers and all that stuff. I absolutely love it. This is a purely gaming and streaming build. I get a solid 60 FPS in every game I play while streaming using ShadowPlay. I am going to update my middle monitor to 1440p 144hz when I get a chance. I'll update this post then.

I rated the Hard Drive 4/5 cause I had alot of trouble with it. I had to wipe it 3 times before it actually worked with my system. I rated the Case 4/5 Because the HDD led is broken, and then left most front panel USB 3.0 port is having overcharging issues when in use. Other than those two problems, this case is absolutely amazing. I rated the monitors 4/5 because I wish I got 144hz 1440p monitors instead, I used to be a console peasent and I used those monitors for them. Cannot wait to upgrade. I rated the mouse 4/5 because I just wish the buttons on it where more programable. You can key bind them, but only the 2 on the side. The 2 extras on the top, and the sniper button, cannot be changed.

Overall, I am in love.

Nice build, but i would have saved on the second GTX 970. Only reason is because SLI needs to be full screen to utilize both gpus in games. For streaming its pretty tough to run games on full screen and constantly be in and outside of the game. AKA fiddling with obs, chat, giveways, music and things. Other then that great build!!!

Most of my games are running in fullscreen except for when i'm streaming, so they both get used great ahha

Having a more expensive build means nothing if it isn't all put into the computer, it just looks awkward having a grand and a half in things that are not directly the computer.

I just wanted to see how much I spent in total, theyre removed now.

i was looking at getting that mouse. can you tell me about the weight and the thumb button placement? i wold love to know if it's a good buy!

  • 0 points

It's a little too small for my hands, but other than that its great. the weight is perfect and you can change it completely, the thumb buttons are a little far away for me because of the way I grip my mouse.

do you generally palm the mouse or claw grip?

Claw

How does that perform in games across all those monitors, I was thinking about getting another G1 970 :)

You did an amazing job. Now you're next project should be cleaning up all the wires behind your desk. Seriously though. This is the ultimate gaming build right now.

Why is your ram only operating at 1066 MHz?

  • 0 points

Speccy doesn't recognize dual channel, theyre running at 2133 but it doesnt show.

  • 0 points

It has nothing to do with dual channel, that is just how software labels double data rate RAM.

  • -1 points

each stick is at 1066mhz ,2(1066)=2133mhz~

  • 1 point

Actually that isn't how it works. It is half because it is double data rate RAM, not because there are two sticks. If he had only one, it would still say 1066.

Have you thought of making a custom loop for your GPUs. You'll be able to over clock them heaps and also would make everything cooler and quieter. Really nice build I wish I could spend that much on a PC.

  • 0 points

Custom loop? No idea what that is haha, I think ill see how much I can overclock them though. I've been saving for the longest time for this, so worth it.

  • 0 points

Custom loop as in water cooling your 970s

  • 0 points

Custom loop is a custom water cooling loop, so tubes, radiator, etc. It's a lot more extreme and it would need a bigger case.

Doesn't the 2133 mhz ram go over the Haswell recommended voltage? I would have gone with different ram and if you really needed the extra little bit of speed then you could have overclocked them, and i would have been cheaper.

  • 0 points

Guessing you didn't look at the RAM specs...1.5V.

I like this build, seems like you were very strategic about which components to go more high-end on rather than just go overkill across the board.

However, I don't agree with rating items based on your own choices rather than their specs, like with the monitors and mouse. This site is all about finding the parts for your build that have everything you want and need, can't really rate a product down for not making sure it was what you were looking for.

  • 0 points

I'll change the ratings then haha, everything is a 5/5 in that aspect.

And yeah, I've been researching for about 6 months, asking on reddit every so often and figuring it all out.

  • 0 points

It's clear that your research paid off, and I wasn't trying to push you to change anything just sharing my opinion about ratings. I see a lot of items on NewEgg/Amazon given poor ratings for some pretty odd reasons that have nothing to do with the product itself, things like "case is too small, hard to fit everything in" on a Mini-ITX case or "wish this fan had led's on it", etc.

what kind of desk/desks are those? Did they come with those shelves?

  • 0 points

some ikea desk from like ten years ago, yeah it came with the shelf! and it came with a different keyboard tray (which I don't use anyway) but it broke off so I had to replace it.

A50 vs M50x, how would you say they compare to each other?

  • 0 points

Considering the Astros are for gaming, and the M50xs are for listening to music they don't really compare hahah

Out of curiosity, why didn't go for 4k with a widescreen monitor instead of those 3 monitors?

  • 0 points

I got those 3 monitors when I was a console peasant. I had my mac connected to one screen, the game in the middle, and then the ps3/360 on the 3rd. Now I have them all through an HDMI splitter but they havent been turned on in over a week, no more consoles for me

  • 0 points

If you get new monitors. Make sure that they are displayport compatible. Some HDMI ports only output 1080p at 30Hz. Not sure about the G1 970 though, havent had the chance to get my hands on one >.<

Getting the new Asus Monitors that come out in march. Only one for the middle for now at least.

1ms responce time, 144hz, 1440p, g-sync. I cannot wait.

  • 0 points

Good lord that sounds like heaven on a plate. Man what i would give for that monitor. I actually cant decide between 2 1080p Dell Ultra sharp monitors or get 2 Acers and 1 Ultrawidescreen LG. Or save up for 1 4k monitor and those 2 acer monitors.
