Description

I built a rig for deep learning and gaming. I used the most recently released i5-9600k CPU and RTX 2070 GPU. I'm pretty satisfied with all the parts, and the installing process was smooth.

I also wrote a blog post on this build: https://medium.com/@yuan_tian/building-my-own-deep-learning-and-gaming-rig-c83480219074

What kinds of temps are you getting when gaming/stress testing your gpu?

I haven't really looked at the temp, but the system stays pretty cool and quiet when I play games like COD14, Far Cry 4, Need for speed 20, and Witcher 3.

Could you check it the next time you play something? Just install msi afterburner and you'll be able to see it. I'm thinking of getting your exact gpu, and I must know whether it is thermal throttling or not...

I'd also really like to know what the temps are, especially with an air cooler (which i'd rather use, but most builds with it are using liquid)

Any specific reason for choosing intel over amd ? I am considering AMD at this point.

From my researching AMD ryzen for rendering videos and Intel for gaming.

I'm pretty satisfied with it. I believe some benchmark says it's about 10% better than GTX 1080.

hows the 2070 holding up? heard they're prone to crashing but really want to buy one myself

So far so good, haven't experienced any crash myself.

How did you like the Motherboard ? I already have my 9600k and looking for sub 300$(cad) z390 mb.

  • 1 point

I like it. If you don't need RGB stuff, it's a pretty good choice.

Hi, just wondering: do your cpu and gpu bottleneck at all? I'm planning on using the RTX 2060 and i5 9600k together and everyone is warning me for bottlenecking.

Nice build, only thing that i would upgrade is the power supply. If you want to overclock or upgrade i would suggest at least 650 W

Hi, I've almost got the exact build as yours and most of my parts have arrived. However, I encountered a problem in part picker. It said the Gigabyte z390 gaming x has an additonal 4pin v12 cpu connect and power supply (Corsair TXM) does not. Can you confirm if this effects the pc in anyway? From what I can tell the port is optional and doesn't affect your pc. Thanks
